An ergonomic sewing room is the one you keep sewing in. Plan where the machine, cutting table and pressing station go so work flows between them in a step or a chair swivel, set every surface to your own height, light the needle properly, and put the safety habits that prevent sewing room injuries in writing.

Ergonomics

Safety in the sewing room

Close the rotary cutter every single time you set it down. The rotary cutter is the most common cause of serious sewing room cuts, and nearly all of them happen when an open blade is left on the table or the ruler slips. Cut away from your body, keep the free hand flat on the ruler with fingers away from the edge, and consider a cut-resistant glove on that hand.
