How is needlepoint canvas and yarn calculated?
Canvas size is the design plus the margin on both sides of each dimension. Stitches are (width x mesh) x (height x mesh). Yarn is the design area in square inches multiplied by the published inches of yarn per square inch for tent stitch on that mesh, divided by 36 for yards. For the default 14 inch pillow on 13 mesh that is 33,124 stitches and about 294 yards.
