The fine print

Disclaimer: Researched, Not Professional Advice

Cozy Stitchery publishes researched guidance compiled from manufacturer specifications, owner manuals, published standards and verified owner reviews. It is not professional advice, and we do not test products in person.

Measurements and estimates

Yardage, yarn and floss estimates vary with pattern, fabric width, shrinkage, gauge and technique. Buy a little extra, especially for dye-lot sensitive yarn and fabric you may not find again.

Safety

  • Rotary cutters are extremely sharp. Close the blade guard every time you set one down, cut away from your body, and keep them away from children.
  • Irons, steam stations and heat presses cause burns. Never leave one unattended, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for temperature and placement.
  • Sewing machine needles can break and pierce skin. Keep fingers clear of the needle, change bent or dull needles, and turn machines off before changing needles or feet.
  • Industrial machines and heavy furniture need proper electrical supply, stable tables and safe lifting. Follow the manual and use qualified help for installation.

Health

Where we discuss ergonomic tools, lighting or magnification, that is general comfort information. For hand pain, vision changes or other health concerns, talk to a doctor, eye care professional or occupational therapist.
